Questions

Why do forms ask for PDFs under 200 KB?

Many application and government portals cap uploads at 200 KB to keep their servers fast. SafeMerge gets you under it without uploading your file anywhere.

Will the text stay sharp?

Usually, yes. SafeMerge first shrinks only the photos and scans inside the PDF, so typed text stays sharp and selectable. Only if that isn't enough does it turn pages into images, and it tells you when it does.

What if it can't reach my size?

You get the smallest version possible and a clear message. Ticking Black & white often halves the size of scanned documents. For very strict limits, remove pages you don't need first with Split PDF.

Are my files uploaded?

No. SafeMerge runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read and changed on your own device and are never sent to any server, including ours.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded you can turn off Wi-Fi and it keeps working. In Chrome or Edge you can also install SafeMerge as an app from the address bar.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up, watermarks or file limits. Ads and donations pay for the site. Very large files are limited only by your device's memory.
